When you go for job placements, interviewers look into your work experience. For freshers, internships provide that work experience. Hence if you the experience required in that sector of job, you will get an upper hand against someone who does not have one.

An internship gives you a general idea of how and what happens in a particular industry. So a real life practical experience can help you understand if the particular industry matches you aptitude and personality. If it does not, you can shift to other careers.
- Keep yourself occupied
If you are not able to land up a job as soon as you get out of college it is ok work as freelancer or intern even if you do not earn much. It would keep you occupied and start your experience and learning curve just as much.

DISADVANATGES OF INTERNSHIPS

Internships do not provide you the financial stability it may not work. Infact, a lot of internships do not give monetary benefits.
- Learning
Since companies know that interns are not permanent employees or long term employees of the company, they do not spend much over them and do not expose them to the detailed and important work of the company. Usually, interns are asked to the basic level of work.
